I’m Ellie. I build websites and communications portfolios for businesses, charities and campaigns that are looking for clean, effective, people-friendly solutions.
I’m not a big company, nor an expensive consulting firm. I’m an independent freelancer working 1-2-1 with clients.

What to say about me? I originally come from Suffolk in the UK, but I currently live in Reading with my husband, Alexis, who works as a technical adviser in the international development sector.
After graduating from Sussex University in Development Studies I became a communicator and policy advocate and worked as a climate change campaigner. In 2012 took a break from full-time work when I was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and, more recently, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
This time away helped me find new pastimes, achieve a healthy balance of work and fun, and develop some new skills. It also gave me the opportunity to re-evaluate my goals and led me onto a path into freelance website and communications. Now I have a job I can fit around my health and hobbies and do from anywhere in the world!
What you get with me
Support from start to finish. From buying the domain name to editing final reports, I can support you for as long as you need.
Honesty. There are some things that are easy for me to do, and some things that will require a little trial and error. Some things will be quick to do, some will take more time. I’ll always be honest about whether something is doable and how long it will take, and when I suggest options, they’re the ones I think will work for you, not the ones that cost the most or least.
A happy medium. True you can get a website for $2, but personalisation and support will be thin on the ground. On the other hand, you can also pay £90 an hour for support and development. That’s not me. I charge a fair price for the hours I work. That’s it.
Someone who enjoys what they do; my skills are self-taught and I’m always open to trying new things. I love working collaboratively with my clients to achieve their visions.
Practicality and creativity. Whether you know exactly what you want, or whether you’re looking for ideas for what your communications could look like and include, we can chat things through to work out what will work from a practical and creative point of view.
Me at the end of the phone or email – there’ll be no support tickets or hours on hold. You’ll get me, at the other end of an email or phone call, working to make your website everything you want it to be.
Flexibility and time to experiment, and I usually do this at no extra cost to you.
