Hello.

I’m Ellie. I build websites and communications portfolios for businesses, charities and campaigns that are looking for clean, effective, people-friendly solutions.

I’m not a big company, nor an expensive consulting firm. I’m an independent freelancer working 1-2-1 with clients.

Testimonials

Here’s what some of my clients say:

Ellie said “do you have a website?” I said ‘no’, she said “I will build you one” and she did. What an brilliant job she made of it. The website has raised awareness of the Trust and our work, in addition being an excellent research tool.

Ellie made the whole experience straight forward and uncomplicated. I gave her my ideas and what I wanted to achieve and she gave me a website that is even better than I could have imagined... I would highly recommend Ellie especially as it has now boosted our business with minimal effort on my part. Huge thanks to Ellie!

Ellie took over the development of our website, improved our design and helped us launch when we were struggling to do so... She has managed content and technical updates for a couple of years now and I don’t know what we would do without her!  She is so knowledgeable, responsive, easy to work with, and a joy to have on our team.

I approached Ellie when I was looking to rebrand, and to create a new website... Ellie has been extremely helpful, approachable, and responsive to my requirements and needs, and I would highly recommend her services.
As a volunteer and trustee of a small charity, I wanted a professional, mobile-compatible website that didn't need an IT PhD to maintain. Ellie provided precisely this and did so quickly, at a steal of a price - a priority for a tiny charity like ours. She's talented, very helpful, and responsive. The end result is slick but satisfyingly simple: you won't be bamboozled by baffling jargon or complicated-sounding things you're not sure you need. She's all about the site *you* want, that *you* can use. We've had great feedback about the new site and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ellie.

Thank you so much for building our website for us and the link to our facebook page. The fact that both myself and Jackie are not “IT experts" made your help, advice and suggestions were greatly appreciated. Thank you for getting us “up and running” in such a quick time!

About Me

What to say about me? I originally come from Suffolk in the UK, but I currently live in Reading with my husband, Alexis, who works as a technical adviser in the international development sector.

After graduating from Sussex University in Development Studies I became a communicator and policy advocate and worked as a climate change campaigner. In 2012 took a break from full-time work when I was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.

This time away helped me find new pastimes, achieve a healthy balance of work and fun, and develop some new skills. It also gave me the opportunity to re-evaluate my goals and led me onto a path into freelance website and communications. Now I have a job I can fit around my health and hobbies and do from anywhere in the world!

What you get with me

Support from start to finish. From buying the domain name to editing final reports, I can support you for as long as you need.

Honesty. There are some things that are easy for me to do, and some things that will require a little trial and error. Some things will be quick to do, some will take more time. I’ll always be honest about whether something is doable and how long it will take, and when I suggest options, they’re the ones I think will work for you, not the ones that cost the most or least.

A happy medium. True you can get a website for $2, but personalisation and support will be thin on the ground. On the other hand, you can also pay £90 an hour for support and development. That’s not me. I charge a fair price for the hours I work. That’s it.

Someone who enjoys what they do; my skills are self-taught and I’m always open to trying new things. I love working collaboratively with my clients to achieve their visions.

Practicality and creativity. Whether you know exactly what you want, or whether you’re looking for ideas for what your communications could look like and include, we can chat things through to work out what will work from a practical and creative point of view.

Me at the end of the phone or email – there’ll be no support tickets or hours on hold. You’ll get me, at the other end of an email or phone call, working to make your website everything you want it to be.

Flexibility and time to experiment, and I usually do this at no extra cost to you.
